Scapular: Simple Brown

These little Brown Scapulars are not our top-of-the-range, but they are a lovely with their coloured image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on one panel and Our Lady of Carmel on the other.

They have a black cord and are securely sewn on.

The Brown Scapular is a sign that we love the Blessed Mother and wear her garment.

• The brown scapular originated as part of the Carmelite friars’ habit, where it served as a work apron for their religious habit.
• In 1251, tradition holds that Mary appeared to St. Simon Stock and presented him with the brown scapular, promising protection for those who wore it.
• This tradition led to the devotion being extended to the laity, with laypeople wearing smaller versions of the scapular to share in the Carmelite spirituality and receive Mary’s protection.
